A‑dec Maintain is a 2% hydrogen peroxide-based solution. Featuring an easy-to-use quick connect top, each 750 ml bottle treats approximately 63 liters of water, lasting 30-40 working days.
A‑dec Maintain test strips can be used to check hydrogen peroxide levels in the tank. The color scale indicates the concentration level of hydrogen peroxide in the process water.
Four steps to clean
Along with a daily waterline maintenance protocol, it's important to monitor water quality and periodically shock the lines to clear deposits and contamination. These four steps help maintain your dental unit waterlines.
1. Fill
Maintain waterlines daily with A‑dec Maintain solution. Specially formulated to prevent the accumulation of odor and foul-tasting bacteria in dental unit waterlines, one bottle remains active in the system preventing limescale and biofilm deposits in water-bearing lines for 30-40 working days.
2. Test
Check hydrogen peroxide levels weekly by dipping an A‑dec Maintain test strip into the tank. The color scale indicates the concentration level of hydrogen peroxide in the process water. Aim for 2%.
3. Monitor
Use a water monitoring test kit to provide a quantitative measurement of heterotrophic bacteria. If CFU/mL test results are greater than water quality standards, it’s time to shock.
4. Shock
A shock treatment clears deposits and removes odor and foul-tasting bacteria from dental unit waterlines. A‑dec recommends shocking the dental unit waterlines with A‑dec ICX Renew before you first use the system. After first use, shock the waterlines whenever test results indicate. Resume using A‑dec Maintain solution for your ongoing waterline maintenance.

Can I still use the water bottle on my A‑dec chair when I have an integrated dental unit waterline treatment system?
The water bottle will not be needed for regular use with the integrated dental unit waterline system; however, it will be used if water shocking is needed with A‑dec ICX Renew. The water bottle can also serve as a backup if, for example, water pressure in the building is lost and patient treatment is still necessary.
